Oxandrolone was first created in 1964 by the American drug company Searle Laboratories and released under the brand name Anavar.
Oxandrolone, commonly called Anavar, is an oral anabolic steroid made from dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It was originally developed to help people recover from serious health conditions such as muscle loss in HIV patients, Turner syndrome, anemia, severe burns, and bone weakness.
This compound does not convert into estrogen and does not cause estrogen-related effects. Because of this, it is very popular among athletes who need lean, dry muscle without extra water weight or fat. Anavar does not cause massive muscle size gains, but it is excellent for fat loss and improving muscle definition, making the body look harder and more detailed.
Even though Anavar is a 17-alpha-alkylated oral steroid, it is known for being gentle on the liver. Studies show that taking 20 mg daily for up to 12 weeks did not cause major increases in liver enzymes (AST and ALT). Side effects are rare, but results are also moderate. Due to its mild nature, Oxandrolone is often considered one of the safest oral steroids available and is commonly chosen by beginners.
