Oxymetholone, also called Anadrol or Anapolon, is a very powerful synthetic anabolic steroid. It is a modified form of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and was first made to help people with anemia, osteoporosis, and severe muscle loss. It was approved for medical use in the United States and helped many patients regain strength and weight. Later, newer non-steroid medicines replaced it, so production slowly stopped in the early 1990s.
In terms of results, oxymetholone works much like methandienone. It helps users gain muscle size fast and greatly boosts strength. A large part of the weight gained comes from water retention, which can raise blood pressure during use.
Oxymetholone also increases hemoglobin levels and total blood volume. Because of this, many athletes experience a very strong muscle pump during workouts. Muscles can feel tight and sore very quickly, sometimes after just one heavy set.
Even though oxymetholone is based on DHT and does not convert into estrogen, it still shows strong estrogen-like effects. These effects do not come from aromatization, so aromatase inhibitors are not effective. Only anti-estrogens can help manage these side effects.
Some people compare its estrogenic effects to nandrolone-type compounds, but research shows oxymetholone does not have progestogenic activity.
Pharmacom Labs developed an injectable form of oxymetholone. Since it does not pass through the liver first, it offers higher absorption and lower liver stress compared to the oral version.
