Anastrozole (Anastrazolos )
Anastrozole (Anastrazolos) is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor developed to lower estrogen levels by blocking the aromatase enzyme. It was first introduced for the treatment of hormone-sensitive breast cancer and is widely used today to control estrogen production.
In bodybuilding, anastrozole is used to manage estrogen caused by aromatizing steroids such as testosterone and methandienone. When estrogen levels rise too high, side effects like gynecomastia, water retention, increased blood pressure, low libido, and mood changes may appear. Anastrozole helps prevent these issues by stopping estrogen from being produced in the first place.
Unlike antiestrogens such as tamoxifen or clomiphene, which only block estrogen receptors, anastrozole reduces estrogen at the source. This means less estrogen circulating in the bloodstream, allowing for better hormonal control during a cycle.
Using too much anastrozole can lower estrogen excessively, which may lead to fatigue, low libido, mood issues, and joint discomfort. For this reason, dosing should be balanced. Compared to stronger aromatase inhibitors like letrozole, anastrozole is smoother and easier to control. It lowers estrogen without completely shutting it down, helping maintain hormonal stability and joint health.
A common starting dose is 0.5 mg per day or every other day, adjusted based on the amount of aromatizing steroids used.
